I need help. I am a 37 year old happily married man that has been blessed with two beautiful children (daughter of seven years and son of three years of age). I am the oldest of four children with the youngest having 24 years of age.
Four years ago my father left our family heavily in debt and abandoned my mother his wife of 34 years for another woman and moved out of the country. It was a long and costly divorce ending with my mother needing to sell the family home to pay for all the costs incurred. We have a family business that my father ran that has been dropped into my hands heavily in debt and has caused a great hardship on my family and me. My mother, now 59, was a stay at home mother of four and has now had to move in with my family and me and take a minimum wage job in order to try to recover and make ends meet. I have had no communication with my father since before the divorce until today I received an email from him wishing me a happy father’s day and stating that he misses and loves me. He has caused our family so much pain. I am very troubled by his email. I don’t know how to react to it or him.
Please guide me in Christ’s footsteps.
Thank you,
Confused and Hurt

Hi,

You can reply that you would sincerely like to believe him because you do love him. But the way he has treated your mother and the rest of the family seems to contradict his words.
You might also tell him that you are praying that he repent for his actions.

You and your family are in our prayers.
