My boyfriend and I are both 17, Catholic, attend Church, very studious, and never do more than a peck in the presence of others. We have been dating for two years about and are completely against premarital sex.Actually, it took us 4 months for a first kiss and half a year for any “making out,” but its never been aggressive just slow. He has never been forceful or manipulative of me or my feelings to this day, if we moved forward it was on my behalf only. Well…and I’m sorry for asking but i have nowhere else to turn to…I was feeling unsure about our present status as a couple seeing as in our Theology class we’ve been discussing premarital sex. We’ve gotten far (making out, feeling up, and fingering) in the past months, and I’m suddenly afraid we’ve crossed some line through partaking in these actions. In participating in these, we each still have NOOO desire for sex because we know the consequences and that God forbade it. We’ve talked what I have presented to you, but we both are unsure if its sinful if we do not see each other as objects, but simply make out because we care about one another strongly without those strong sexual feelings anyways.

Should we take a step back? Or is it fine as long as we keep our mindsets?

Hi,

Your “present status” is not appropriate because it is poised for the next step. You are far too close to falling into what you say you both do not want to do. So cool it and cool it now.
Get back to the peck stage and stay there until you are ready to marry. The intimate physical stuff comes AFTER marriage–not before!
