My father was married to his first wife for ove 15yrs, they were married in the Catholic church and it was recognized. He divorced her to marry my mother. The original marriage was never annulled, and there was no dispensation offered to allow his second marriage to be recognized. My mother has filed for divorce and it is coming to a close in the courts now. My father has been away from the Mass for 35yrs and has began attending with us in Ft. Worth. The question I have is this: Since his first wife and he are reconciled to being friendly and able to enjoy each other’s company in public settings, the second marriage was never recognized…once/if he were to confess for his 35yrs of sin would he be able to receive the blood and body once again?

Hi,

Since he is no longer living with your mother and is celibate, he may go to Confession and receive Holy Communion.
