Hello,
I was not raised catholic but chose the faith after I was married. We have a eight year old daughter who is going to be taking her first holy communion and I have no clue on what the dress code is - Some of the other moms have been talking about finding a white dress, veil, gloves and shoes. Does the dress have to be pure white? Can it be off white? Can it have a bow with color? Dose there need to be a veil and gloves? I feel silly asking the other mom’s since they were all raised in the faith and can be somewhat condescending to me. I want to do best by god and my daughter so she enjoys and looks forward to her first holy communion since it is a sacrament from god.

Hi,

The dress ought to be white, white with a white veil. Gloves vary from place to place. The emphasis on white reflects the purity in which the child welcome Jesus into her very person. I hope this helps
