It depends.
I can’t always discern what is from the Lord, therefore I can’t say some things, even to my confessor, without possibly causing offense. I think I have been mislead before, but can’t discern. This was over a few days time and alot was brought up. I was told I wasn’t a good example and I was discouraged and ended up in the hospital for 4-5 days. See what I’m getting at? I still feel this urge to tell my story and about God’s mercy. Thats just the spiritual side of it. Recently I have talked with my Priest about getting involved with jail ministries and was met with a civil lawsuit this week. I’m punch drunk. Tim
Never keep anything from your confessor. If he doesn’t know the whole story, he can’t help you. Just like the doctor.
I am sorry about your negative experience. Without knowing what’s going on, I can only give my opinion in general. When evangelizing, if we talk about our own experience without involving privacy of others, it should be OK. The bottom line of testimony is to give glory to God. While doing it, keep in mind of proper boundary to avoid possible offense.
I would have to write a book to bring everything up to my confessor and he may think I’m just crazy. I question that myself. One Priest told me that negative things are not from God. We didn’t get into the details. The things this “spirit” said still bother me today, but I’m slowly thinking I was duped. If thats the case, why are the physical manifestation allowed, such as deaths , car wrecks, lawsuits. I’m being tried on lessons I don’t understand from where they come. I really don’t know what to make of it. I need a good discerning S.A. that has experience with both kinds. I’m not going to find that local. Tim

My experience with both priests and doctors, in general, is that they don’t have the patience for us to go into detail.
This is good advice. I can’t find a SA who is a Priest, Monk or Nun. This discernment affects almost all parts of my and my family’s life, faith, church , life and death issues, questions of the afterlife. Tim
I don’t mean to go into excruciating detail. I mean don’t leave out important things that have happened because you feel the need to keep them secret. That’s usually a temptation you should not give in to. When you feel that Our Lord is speaking to you in an extraordinary way or appearing to you, that’s pretty important.

Is it supposed to help specifically with the way you are interpreting events in your life? I’m not trying to be nosy, it just may help me with my own perceptions of life, etc.
I was told to walk a trail on my property, find a spot and read John 1:1. I was too focused on the angelic and spliting up the Trinity. It worked well. I understand. Sometimes our focus does get a little skewed. I have found myself at times doing similar things. My father used to call it, seeing demons behind every closed door, or being focused on the messanger instead of the message, which has already been given to us through the scriptures and the Church. It can create a lot of confusion and/or fear in life, and that’s not what we are called to, we are to be aware but not overcome!
