Certain mortal sins destroy the habit of faith or of hope as well as charity.

The opinion of St. Thomas Aquinas in the S.T. (Whether charity is lost through one mortal sin?) is that:
Charity denotes union with God, whereas faith and hope do not. Now every mortal sin consists in aversion from God, as stated above 8. Consequently every moral sin is contrary to charity, but not to faith and hope, but only certain determinate sins, which destroy the habit of faith or of hope, even as charity is destroyed by every moral sin. Hence it is evident that charity cannot remain lifeless, since it is itself the ultimate form regarding God under the aspect of last end as stated above 9.

What is it ment by habit?
A habit is a a settled or regular tendency or practice.

“Habits of acting are acquired by constant repetition, and lost by disuse or contrary acts. Good moral habits are virtues; evil ones are vices.” – Modern Catholic Dictionary

So say i get the gift of faith by God but i fall into sin, then i will loose some of it? Thats the effect of vice on a habit?

When it the state of grace is it called supernatural grace or habitual grace. Similarly one can be habitually in a state of sin.

St. Thomas Aquinas and the Catechism of the Catholic Church identify two sins against hope: despair and presumption, and the Catechism identifies sins against faith as doubt, incredulity, heresy, apostasy, schism. See Catechism 2088 and 2091.
