Can you Lose Salvation?

It’s a good discussion point but won’t go on for long unless some Baptists are listening in and care to debate. They believe that once you are saved you are always saved. EVEN IF you walk away from God.

Catholics, as you know, beleive you lose your salvation when commiting a mortal sin. This is not an easy thing to do and most people really don’t ever have to go to confession for venial sins although the chruch requests that you go at least once a year and around Easter time.

One might ask: Can you lose light? As long as you go towards the light, even when you are in darkness, the light will pull you out of yourself and you will be free. But turn away from the light and retreat into the shadows to enjoy things you cannot even see, to be miserable in the midst of what you cannot see… you can lose the light if you choose to. Salvation is an ongoing process throughout this life. Objectively you are saved at baptism, but then throughout your lifetime you have freewill to accept the graces from God to live accordingly or to not live accordingly. It is during this time that salvation may be lost (through sin) and regained (repentance and confession), lost again and regained again. At the time of death you will be judged. If you are in a state of grace than you have eternal salvation. If you are not in a state of grace than eternal condemnation.

Well, Edarlitrix, I do believe you’ve found the truth!

The heart will soon stop weeping for having lost the darkness! (don’t mean this for you, but for the lost).
