Can you pray while exercising?

Is it sinful to pray while exercising? I have a prayer routine that includes the rosary, the Divine Mercy chaplet, and my daily personal prayers that I pray while pounding away on my eliptical trainer every morning. I read in a book recently that it is sinful to pray when you cannot devote full attention and effort toward the prayer. I love my morning routine and credit it with helping me stay with my exercising.

It is the obligation of the author you read to prove the assertion that it is “sinful” to pray while doing other things. I suspect the author would find little support for such an assertion in Catholic theology and piety. In fact, offering up one’s activities to God can itself be a form of prayer.
St. Therese of Lisieux once said:

I prefer the monotony of obscure sacrifice to all ecstasies. To pick up a pin for love can convert a soul.
