Can you put holy water in your humidifier?

A co-worker has a 5-year-old son who asked if their humidifer could be supplied with holy water, and she asked me if that was appropriate or even permissible to obtain holy water for that purpose. Could you please help me?

Holy water is a sacramental and therefore should not be put to profane use (as distinguished from sacred use). I recommend that your co-worker explain to her son that holy water is meant for giving blessings, and that we use other kinds of water for the machines around the house.
