Can you suggest some good books on Mary?

I have a dear friend who, much to my surprise, told me that she was thinking of becoming a Catholic, but could not “get over” the Church’s veneration of Our Lady. She is a highly intelligent woman and I would like to recommend a few books which might help explain the Catholic teaching on Mary without being too simplistic or syrupy. Could you suggest a few titles which might be of help?
