Can you switch parishes?

I just moved to a new city and am looking for a parish. Is this theright approach? I just read that Canon Law states that you have to attend Mass at your parish church. There is a Catholic church right by my house, but I’ve been attending Mass at a church about 20 minutes away. I’ve not registered with either church yet, but I have gotten rather attached to the farher church. Am I breaking Canon Law by going to a church outside my parish? Would I be allowed to register at that farther church, or do I have to register with the parish by my house? Thank you.

While one ought to attend his parish church regularly, the new code of canon law does not specify that it must be in the parish territory in which ones resides. By all means shop around and register where you choose.
