Canadian personal missal

Is there any personal Missal that has readings from the Canadian Lectionary?

So far all the Missals I’ve seen available are from the US Lectionary or the UK Lectionary.

It seems to me Canada is kinda short in liturgical supplies, or maybe I’m not looking in the right places.

Hints, anyone? Thanks much.

there is a monthly leaflet from Novalis, in US it is called Living Word, don’t know if it has a different name in Canada, but is published in both US and Canadian lectionary versions, with readings for Mass each day and other prayers and resources about 4 x 4 purse size

“Living with Christ” (Novalis) is the name of the missallette I have traditionally used, here in Canada.

I’m not sure if any of the permanent missals available have the Canadian Lectionary readings in them since Canada is the only country using the New Revised Standard Version.

The Catholic Book Publishing Company puts out a Canadian edition of the Sunday missal every year that is available for about $3-$4. It’s available from most Catholic bookstores in Canada and many parishes sell them starting just before Advent every year. I can’t find it on their website, but the reference number for 2008 is 2108/04 (the American version is 2008/04) - the one for the next liturgical year will be No. 2109/04.

According to the CCCB website, the new Canadian Lectionary will also be available sometime this year (it’s unclear from their publishing site whether the version they’re selling is the new one). This means that they have dealt with some of the gender neutral language that the Vatican had issues with and that Canada will finally have an approved lectionary.

thank you for correcting my memory, I used to get this before I found Magnificat

As far as I know there aren’t any permanent missals for the Canadian Lectionary, only the yearly misalettes.

I asked a friend of mine in Catholic publishing about this once (she’s a Daughter of St. Paul) and she said that even once the new version of the Canadian lectionary is approved there may not be a permanent missal published because of the numbers involved. As Canada is the only country that uses the NRSV and the Canadian population isn’t that big, the cost of printing a Canadian missal might not be realistic.

On the positive side, we do seem to have enough of a market to publish our own hymnal, and personally I prefer the Catholic Book of Worship III to Gather.

The annual “Sunday Missal” from Novalis contains all the Sunday Mass Collects & Readings for the liturgical year.

The new Lectionary is to be ready for the First Sunday of Advent, year B. There have been many changes to the NRSV translation, including some of the most egregious inclusive language.

Thanks for all the answers guys. I’ll consider the annual missals available here then, although I’ll continue using my Daily Roman Missal for its other features. Darn thing is, I forgot to pack it, so it’s still back there in the Philippines.

You mean there are Catholic bookstores still in Canada? Or that there is an actual Catholic Church in Canada? I would have thought that so-called Human Rights Tribunal would have outlawed the Catholic faith by now for being politically incorrect! 😉

Well, at least with guys like my new bishop, there’s hope for the Church here yet.
