Cancelling promises with God?

So just recently, i made a private promise to God that I’d stop playing for about a week and whenever I broke it I’d extend it by another week. The temptation was so strong that I blew off steam and started getting stressed so I prayed to God that I wanted to cancel it and in return I’d offer a rosary.

Is what I did wrong?

Please help. I have a vulnerability when it comes to being anxious.

My promises and anxieties are mainly caused by my ‘Struggle to Purity’ (You know what I mean). I make the promises to stop myself from ‘Falling’ but the promises just add up to the stress. Im just asking if it was sinful for me to ‘cancel’ a promise I made to God.

Ask your confessor, not us random folk online. You’ll need confession anyhow as you “fell from purity.” God bless.

I don’t know, but I would encourage you to stop calling whatever sin you are referring to “playing”. When we put pretty names on ugly things, it encourages us to pursue the ugly things.
