Candlemass is coming up

And it’s time to think about getting candles ready to be blessed. I really love this aspect of our faith.

Has anybody’s priest invited you to bring yours to mass to be blessed?
 
I hope we have one this year, I am looking forward to it. Our priest is recovering from surgery, not sure if there will be a priest on Feb 2 who’s available.
 
Yes! The faithful can bring their own candles and the priest will also bless a basket full of tapers for distribution to the faithful to use at the procession the pertinent parts of Mass and to have a blessed sacramental at home.

Whenever the Blessed Sacrament is brought to one’s house for the communion of the sick two candles and a cloth (usually something that resembles a corporal) are required.
 
That’s great. The priest here lets us.

I used to wonder if it was OK to present non-beeswax candles for the blessing that day, only because the blessing prayer asks God to look up on these candles “made from the wax of bees,” but I finally concluded that the requirement for beeswax (or rather, 51% or whatever) is only for candles meant for liturgical use (in the OF, there is no requirement for beeswax at all, but many people still use it, and that’s great). The Rituale Romanum blessing prayer for candles *outside of *Candlemass says nothing about beeswax, so…
 
Is anyone celebrating this great feast with the solemnity if deserves - with a full High Mass, beautiful music (including the wonderful anthem by Eccard “When to the temple Mary went” and a lovely setting of the Nunc Dimitis) the hymns “Hail to the Lord who comes” and “Faithful Vigil Ended”, and a procession?

Yes, there is a church here that does all this.
 
Our former pastor had a special Mass just to bless candles; I hope the new guy continues the practice.
 
We have a choice as to where to go; Seattle for a High Mass with procession and a magnificent choir OR Portland for a High Mass and a dubious choir. Friends of ours want to go to Portland as the choir needs help so I guess that’s where we’ll go.

Both parishes do the TLM.
