Well, gonefishing, I have to get to bed now. The conversation has been interesting.
Just to recap: you are fine with legalized abortion and assisted suicide, but definitely against smoking pot? Just checking. It seems a little odd, though.
BTW, you should probably check the Bible on your statement that Satan is man, man is Satan. I’m not sure where you came up with that.
Additionally, to wish that all hippies should have been smothered in their cribs seems a bit extreme.
Thanks for telling me I’ll burn in hell. You seem very certain of this. Have you received some sort of privileged information? Or is that tinfoil hat you’re wearing interfering with the normal exchange of neurotransmitters in your brain?
I am FOR abortion. It saves innocent children from living an empty life in hell.
I am FOR suicide. No sane person wants to live for decades in a country where the only purpose of life is to sleep around, get drunk, and get high.
I am AGAINST drug use. Getting high is a bastard activity and pushing drugs hijacks decent parents’ rights to at least attempt to raise a drug-free kid in this garbage country.

You spit in God’s face.

godsdeadtime2go.blogspot.com/

Platitude, platitude, God wants you in this hell, platitude, platitude. That’s my blog. And it shows in full color the only way I have to escape the zombies and apes here.

I’m not even safe on a Christian website. The moral erosion in this country is complete.

There is no demon with red horns. We don’t need to outsource our evil. Satan is man. Man is Satan. Keep looking for the hollywood version of the devil. The real devil is waaaaaaaaaaay more than one person, and he’s wearing jeans and a T-shirt, and trying to get other people’s kids high.

After reading your blog, I am a little concerned. Are you considering suicide for yourself? You seem despondent. Please, as a fellow Catholic, I urge to you see a priest rather than hurt yourself.

:slapfight: I don’t smoke Cannabis, mainly because it is illegal. Also It is a waste of money. I have in the past but not for a long time. There are some serious side effects, such as psychotic behavior in long term users. But some people with certain conditions, glaucoma pain from certain cancers, panic disorders, OCD that cannabis will help.

A cabinet member in Ronald Reagan’s administration procured cannabis for his daughter who was dying from cancer because it was the only thing that would help alleviate the pain and help her eat.

The national rhetoric on this subject is shameful. Many people oppose the legalization for purely emotional reasons. There are few if any cases of people overdosing on cannabis. The worse thing is a bad case of the munchies. One day it will probably be legal.

You are not a fellow Catholic. You’re a druggie. You wouldn’t know God if you hit him with your car. I am OUT of here. That’s my exit bag. Thank you very much for turning this country into a moral toilet and a druggie sh-hole. Thank you very much. You are NOT a good person. You are NOT a concerned person. You are NOT a Christian person.

Drug users are bad people. They’ve always been bad people. You make me want to kill myself. Now go to your kids and your adorable grandkids, look them in the eyes, and picture those babies with bongs in their mouths. You’re a common street pusher. I don’t associate with trash.

Satan is man. Man is Satan. Suicide isn’t an act of hurting oneself. It’s an act of escape.

I should be safe from drug pushers on a Catholic website. I will NEVER walk into another church again in my life. I attend St Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. I no longer go there. If Catholics are drug pushers and drug users, I have nothing to gain by sitting in pew surrounded by hypocrites and common druggies.

“We at Weekend Update have been analyzing the various samples of marijuana sent us anonomously all week. We are pleased to report that the only significant finding is that if you force a baby squirrel to smoke 700 cannibus joints a day, he will become disoriented; and seems to take the laws of self-preservation less seriously, tend to play with his nuts, rather than store them”.-Chevy Chase

The paranoia comes naturally from the possibility of getting caught doing an illegal thing, not from the pot. (Solution: go off the path where you won’t endanger anyone, and no one will find you). The violence from drug cartels is not from the weed per se, therefore, grow your own or buy from the guy that grows it in his barn down the street.

Send me to hell if you must, but I have had wonderfully solemn Masses as well as jubulent, praisefilled “In Excelcious Dei” Masses under the influence. Very focused on spiritual moment throughout these Masses.

This behavior is not to be done all of the time, nor to excess. But it can bring one to a particular experience of the Holy Sacrifice that can be quite intense and spiritual.

I’m just saying. I see no insult to the Blessed Trinity and no harm done to anyone in the congregation who are unaware. It WOULD be wrong to distract any one from their spirital experience.

Study carried out on mice again, using a synthetically made chemical which is a component of cannabis, not cannabis itself. Cannot be compared to humans.
The facts are there. They use mice in these studies because they tend to respond in the same way as humans to tests such as these. It can be reasonably assumed that the effects on humans will be very similar to those on mice.

Face it, you can’t argue against marijuana for health reasons because not only is it NOT harmful, it is probably MUCH more medicinal than we ever suspected. If you are against marijuana, you must be against alcohol, which is addictive and much more physically harmful than marijuana can ever be.

Saying it’s against the law is the only real argument.

Yes I can argue against it for health reasons, I have provided numerous links to studies carried out on HUMANS. Something you have failed to do.

It CANNOT be reasonably assumed the effect on humans will be similar to mice. They use mice in these studies not because “they tend to respond the same way” as us but because mice are cheap and legal to experiment on. Unless you can provide me proof that mice and humans have a similar physiology? But I bet if you did find a study on that it would probably have been tested on horses.

And yes I am against alcohol for a matter of fact. But I don’t think it should be made illegal, because alcohol can be enjoyed responsibily and in small amounts has actually been shown to help protect against heart disease (yet in large amounts, it can cause it). Cannabis however cannot be enjoyed recreationally without massive negative effects. Its use as a painkiller is good, but thats just it - a painkiller, not for getting high.

And to those saying we should use it because God placed in on this Earth for us to take, and he wouldn’t put it there unless it was going to be useful/intended for us - does that mean we should use nightshade, a poison? I mean, God clearly wanted us to take poison… point proven. God may have known it would be a good painkiller. I’m not sure however he wants you to get high to the detriment of your mental health.

So the only test for you is if someone makes the claim that it frees their mind?

Then I assume you use LSD as well as many people claim that it also frees their mind.
uhhh. the person that discovered the DNA spiral we now use for many wonderful purposes, was on LSD when he discovered it…😉 LSD is a different issue though. 😉

No he wasn’t. What is it with you and the rest of the pro-cannabis group who make ridiculous claims and then fail to back it up?

It was actually a she who discovered a shape, the two men stole her work.

Back it up.
Wikipedia:
osalind Elsie Franklin (25 July 1920 – 16 April 1958) was a British biophysicist who was trained as a chemist and specialized in X-ray crystallography,[1] She made important contributions to the scientific understanding of the molecular structures of coal and graphite and, using X-ray diffraction, DNA, RNA and viruses. The DNA work achieved the most fame because DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) plays essential roles in cell metabolism and genetics, and the discovery of its structure helped scientists understand how genetic information is passed from parents to children.
By using a technique called X-ray diffraction, Franklin obtained results which led to the realization that a DNA molecule consists of an intertwined double helix of atoms. An X-ray diffraction experiment directs a beam of X-rays through a sample of a substance onto a screen. A pattern of spots is formed. This is recorded and used to calculate the arrangement of atoms in the sample. Franklin worked on DNA in the Medical Research Council Biophysics Unit at King’s College, London, using her expertise in dealing with amorphous materials.
Franklin’s role in the discovery of the structure of DNA still remains controversial. She recorded a photograph of a DNA molecule that another researcher at King’s College, Maurice Wilkins, showed to James Watson and Francis Crick without her knowledge or permission. This image helped Watson and Crick construct a model of DNA, which enabled them to fully understand the molecule’s structure. Wilkins, Crick and Watson were awarded a Nobel Prize jointly, some years later, after Franklin’s death. Hostility between Franklin and her colleagues is a matter of record. There has been extensive comment in biographical works[2][3][4] and other publications that her work did not bring adequate recognition during her lifetime. Some claim this was due to prejudice. The arguments have focused on details that include the restriction of the Senior Common Room at King’s College to men, cultural differences between a rich, cosmopolitan sophisticate and boisterous British ex-sevicemen (“macho rowdies”)[5] and Watson’s reference to Franklin as “Rosie” and his comments on her appearance in his memoir The Double Helix, which he wrote on his return to Harvard from Cambridge.
Look up Watson and Crick, no evidence either of them took drugs.

Now your turn. You prove to me there were on LSD or apologise for wasting my time.

That is an entirely valid point, but I’m left to wonder, does that mean the Church says I sin every time I drive over the speed limit? Every time I don’t follow every rule and every policy? Every time I don’t do everything just how my boss says? Do I have to quit my job if my boss wants me to break an IRS regulation?

Then bury me in a fireman’s suit because I just can not live that way. It does ont strike me as a mature approach to our faith. And I just don’t get that impression from the gospels either.
Thank you. 👍

Thanks for the article but it is about a “synthetic chemical similar to the active ingredient in marijuana”. So the study you speak of through this article does not state that marijuana promotes brain cell growth.

Nice try though.

Now do you wish to respond to my concern that you are giving out medical advice here which you are unqualified to do.
Where have I stated I am giving out medical advice? I advise people to see their doctor where it is available to get it for medical purposes. Im just pointing out studies like you are. You dont accept the studies I choose to post because they disagree with your world view, then fine. I really dont care. The main reason the Catholic Church is against pot use in America at least is because it is illegal. It is however legal to smoke this wonderful plant in Holland. Or do I need to back that little tidbit of Info up also. You do know that it is legal to smoke in Holland dont you? Do you need Proof?! Therefore since its legal to smoke in HOLLAND, I guess The Catholics who enjoy this natural wonderful plant, are NOT SINNING! I have as much right as you to speak my opinions here. Its a forum. I dont have to agree with you 100% of the time. I have as much right to post my links as you do yours. They dont have to agree with you 100%. If you cant tangle with the big dogs…Stay on the porch. Peace

The paranoia comes naturally from the possibility of getting caught doing an illegal thing, not from the pot.
Totally untrue. Weed can make you paranoid about all sorts of things and not just getting busted by the cops.

May I also say, I have been around Tons of Pot heads and Drunks, in my chosen fields of work over the years. I have NOT ONE TIME ever had a problem with a pot head. Drunks on the other hand, are nasty, rude, belligerant, hostile, kill way more people on our roadways than pot heads. Im sure I can back this up too! Have a great day folks. and Musician. Try to find a legal alternative. I would hate to see you go to jail over a plant. 😉

Wow, this whole paragraph is based on absolutely nothing other than your biases. Cannibis cannot be enjoyed recretationally without massive negative effects?!?!?!?!? Where are you getting that info from? Seriously? Please show me a study that states that marijuana enjoyed recreationally has massive negative effects.

I’m sorry…are you attempting at honest debate here, or are you by nature unkind by implying that I have “issues”?? How small-minded and petty of you, simply because I disagree with you.

Let us approach this matter using a system of analytical reasoning.
Since at least the 3rd millenium BC, and probably before, marijuana has been in use. As in, being smoked. Various artifacts such as pipes and so on have been discovered. Marijuana was not criminalized in the US until beginning in 1906, and even then in many states was sold openly until around the 1930s. All that is necessary is to dry the plant a bit and then insert it into a pipe. Not very complicated, really…and in humankind’s existence has rarely caused death, but rather, a pleasing sensation. (Strangely enough, a person can also use grapes to make a substance called “wine”, which when used, causes a similar effect to marijuana usage.)
I am not a historian, but I did check on the uses of hemlock since you asked, and for centuries, of course, it has been used as a poison. We have all no doubt heard about the death of Socrates, and it is commonly held that his death was by hemlock.
Therefore, (try and keep up here), an averagely intelligent person would conclude that:
(1) the use of marijuana is not deadly, but in fact pleasant; and
(2) the use of hemlock leads to death, and therefore would be shunned as a matter of common sense.

I hope this clears things up for you.
Yeah, and If I would not have to worry about busting folks like you, I could fill the jails up with real criminals who actually DO hurt people. 👍

LemonandLime-And yes I am against alcohol for a matter of fact. ME- Talk about rationalization! WOW! thats not what they said during prohibition. All alchohol use was banned. So therefore since it was banned at a point in our nations history, you should not be endorsing it for any reason. Are you giving medical advice?🤷
