That might be great example of how dynamic equivalence can **sometimes ***be better when translating a text.

As it is opposed to the concubine: non regular, one night stand.

This might be implicit in what you have said but I’ll make it explicit. The prohibition of this canon is limited to external sins, since both parties have to know about the sin in order for the law to be just and practical. And, as noted by “Spirithound,” it is further limited to mortal sins since absolution is not required to forgive venial sin.
