So, I’ve researched the Canons of John Cantius (personal interest). I discovered that their seminarians go to Holy Apostles College/Seminary. Does anybody happen to know why they go there instead of the archdiocesan seminary of Chicago?

:ehh:

Holy Apostles Seminary in Connecticut? Where did you see that? I’m discerning vocation and have had a strong interest in the Canons; I too was wondering where they went to seminary.

My (un)educated guess is that Holy Apostles is a more Orthodox seminary that places an emphasis on tradition. Perhaps this seminary teaches the EF mass while the archdiocesan seminary doesn’t?

The Canons (and their affiliates) themselves teach the EF to priests and others. As well as Latin and Greek. I don’t think it’s necessary to go to a specific seminary to learn that, although I understand Latin is a requirement for proper priestly formation.

I visited the Canons recently and for Philosophy they send their seminarians to Holy Apostles and for Theology they send them to Mundelein (the Illinois seminary). Ctb95’s “uneducated guess” is correct: it is more orthodox.
By the way, the church they have in Chicago is absolutely beautiful!
