So, as I was driving to work this morning, I was following the car in front of me rather closely - yea, I know. At first, I didn’t notice one of the bumper stickers on the car, but when I did finally notice it, I did a double take.

It was one of those “Earth” bumper stickers, but below it, it had a picture of an SUV, and it said “SUV = small (male part)”. And the clincher? The driver had his/her car window open and his/her arm out the window, holding a cigarette!!! At that point, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Gotta love people. And oh, I don’t drive an SUV.

I do drive an SUV, but I assure you, I am very female.

It does make for a chuckle though…

What really got me was the irony. Here was an “unconventional” bumper sticker about environmental consciousness, and the driver was puffing on a cigarette for the world to see!

I think the driver was female, too.

I’m all for environmental consciousness but I also smoke. I guess I don’t see the contradiction between the two. I mean, if you’re not throwing your cigarettes out and littering with them then what is such a big problem? Other than that, how could they be much pollution?

The person was apparently doing just that, had the car window open with the cigarette in hand sticking out the window!

Honestly, the other irony is like it or not, when you smoke you pollute your own body, your hair and clothes start to smell and can affect people (see thread on babysitting children of smokers).

I truly feel sorry for smokers - it is an addiction that is hard to break and even more so for women!

I guess I don’t get it… I’m not dense I just don’t see the correlation between the abysmally small amount of C02 that comes from the end of a lit cigarette and that of an SUV. No comparison there in my mind I guess 🤷

I figured I would add to this…

Actually a cigarette is Carbon neutral because it’s from fresh plants not fossil fuels. The CO2 released though is about 5g.

To compare an SUV releases an average of 11.1 TONS of CO2 per year.
