Can't buy a product, is it piracy if I get it from not legal ways?

Summarizing quickly, I won’t pay a lot of money for a Nintendo Switch to have legal access for Star Fox 64. It costs too much in my country, and I won’t pay a lot of money in a thing that’s gonna be useless for me very quick.I just wanna have some hours of my childhood games again - I played a lot of N64 emulated games as a kid - but I won’t go against my faith, and commit theft.

Are there any escaping routes here?

P.S.: Nintendo policies on old games are pretty silly and agressive, tbh. Remakes, etc… SEGA puts some of their old games for Android with ad support, that’s amazing.

Are you looking for a moral loophole or something?
You seem to be trying to rationalize doing something that you actually know is wrong.

Do they have game rentals in Brazil? Just rent a switch and star fox

Basically, I have no ways to pick it legally\morally. It annoyies me.

That’s life. We can’t just take what we want because we want it

It is theft. You are taking someone’s intellectual knowledge or the product of the knowledge, weather it is from some big corporation or the work of one single person who has been creative and industrious. You can live without stealing, can’t you?

Used N64s are pretty cheap as far as I know.

I was going to suggest buying the game second hand and using it on an N64 emulator for PC, which typically is legal as far as I know, but I’m not sure what’s involved in getting the cartridge to work – probably some sort of adaptor, to either play the game as is or dump the ROM files as a backup copy. It seems like what a lot of people do is circumvent all that by just buying the game and then downloading the ROM online, although that is still technically illegal I believe.

Anyway, Star Fox 64 isn’t actually on the Switch (yet). Your other option would be to buy a 2DS and the remastered version of the game, but that’s still going to be over $100 US because the game is $40 (physical version is somewhat rare too, although digital is an option). Not sure how much into gaming you are but a 2DS/3DS is a worthwhile investment imo.

Ah, I forgot one detail : I live in Brazil. Not so easy to pick US products. Although there are many N64 products available in the local market, I don’t have my own money yet. I’m planning to start working on freelance translations in a few weeks, when I get closer to finish high school, while I’ll be awaiting the results of the National Exam of Medium Scholarship(how we get into college over here).

Tbh, I’m really hoping that Nintendo will release the N64 Mini. Hopefully, my brother can help me buy it for our apartment.

Too bad that it annoys you. You knew the answer when you first posted. I am sure that many people in Baizil would like a crust of bread while you ‘lust’ for the whole loaf.
