I’ve come down with a stomach flu and I am supposed to stay indoors and not do a lot of moving. It’s a quarter to two as I’m writing this and I just got the strength to get out of bed a couple of minutes ago. It’s probably just a 24-hour flu, but if I’m too sick to be able to go to mass, what should I do?

what I would do is find online the passages of scripture that are read today and tomorrow and reflect over them, than call the local parish and ask them to bring you communion, hopefully the priest will get the message and send a parishioner to your house to bring you communion.

I had bronchitis a little over a month ago and this is what I did. Well I watched the mass on TV.

I’m no doctor but if your energy was so low that you couldn’t get out of bed I would either find a late mass tomorrow to make sure you are fully recovered or just ask for communion

btw there is nothing wrong with staying home from Sunday Mass if you are too sick. The way I see it if you are to sick to work you are to sick to go to mass.

stay at home and get well? ya think? if you’re catholic, I think u know the answer.

I think you’ve answered your own question above. If you’re too sick to go to Mass, don’t go. Also, if what you have is contagious, it would be considerate of you to just stay home until you are completely recovered so you don’t share your illness with others.

If you are too sick to go to Mass, you stay home.

If you are well enough to do so, you can read Scripture or pray. But that is not required.

Stomach flu is nothing to mess with. Stay home. Rest. Take fluids.

The Book of Sirach (Chapter 38) says that you should listen to your doctor, “for the Most High created him, for all healing is from God…” 🙂

The more you rest and follow doctor’s orders, the faster you’ll get well. When you’re well, you can go to church as much as you want. Right now, no.

This is why we’re excused from church if we’re too sick or too frail to go.

Stay home and do what you should to get well.

You have no obligation to go. Your obligation is to others that you don’t infect them.

Well you could watch Mass on EWTN and make a spiritual communion. You are excused from Mass if you are ill.

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MASS IF YOU ARE ILL!!!

You are excused from your obligation and you could put others’ health and even their LIVES at risk by going while you are still shedding the virus (contagious). Elderly people can DIE from the flu or other virulent disease. We come into contact at the Sign of Peace and even just sitting close in the same pew.

STAY HOME and take care of yourself!

Stay at home… That’s generally what sick people are supposed to do when they’re sick. 🤷

So, do you want to risk puking all over the place? I’ve heard priests say they get more than a little peeved when someone confesses missing mass because of illness. 😦
