I can’t pray. I can’t even hold my Rosary in my hand. It feels so foreign, so useless, so dead. All of it feels worthless, just words being said.

How do I overcome this?

I need the help of God on some personal matters, but I can’t bring myself to ask Him.

Just hold the Rosary in your hand and think about Jesus’ Passion…if only for a moment. Think about His love for you and the sacrifice He made.

You don’t have to say anything, just think about Him. He loves you very much, that is why the Word was made flesh.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares for you.”
Peter 5:7

God already knows what’s in your heart. He knows what you want and need better than even you do. What I would do if I were you is to close my eyes and take slow deep breaths. Meditate on Jesus’ name: “JE” (as you slowly inhale) “SUS” (as you slowly exhale). If you can, try to see Jesus’ face in your mind as you do. Do it for as long as you need to to start feeling at peace.

I do this whenever I feel scared… and it always helps give me peace.

The enemy works hard to keep us distracted and feeling lost. He loves to make us feel as though our prayers and requests are falling on deaf ears.

Talk to a priest for counsel.
Make a good Confession.
Praying for you.

OK I’ll ask Him for you – Gotta go to the ‘will’ which is not about feelings, feelings come and go – we have no lasting city here and eternity last forever. Things change, people change but God never changes – Run to mother Mary and tell her all, listen to the hush , the gentle voice – Just listen, take a few seconds out of your day and find quiet – the future is not here but now is – You’re not alone – we all have times when prayer seems impossible - but are we looking at ourselves or really seeking the face of God, God can take it all, he already knows what’s going on inside of us and around us, for some amazing reason He wants us to pour our hearts out to him, yet , with the reality that he is Father, yet the all powerful creator of all-- He made us for himself – Will pray for you – thanks for your honesty. :grouphug:

I think that you got some great answers already. I’ll add my prayers for you.

Saint Michael the Archangel defend us in battle. Protect us from the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, oh prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and all of the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Vade retro satana; nunquam suade mihi vana. Sunt mala quae libas; ipse venena bibas.

Amen!

Saying prayers for you, Zelda, because you can’t right now…

Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory Be

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

If it feels like ‘just words’ then just keep on saying the words.
However useless it may feel, God loves you and values every moment you spend trying to obey Him. As a friend of mine said once, just keep on trudging

Pray anyway!

It is more than likely a moment of dryness and it will pass.

I have struggled the last few weeks with the feeling that Mary is not there at all.

But she is the most loving Mother and would never abandon her child.

So you can know that this dryness is for a reason. It will strengthen your faith and you just have to push through it and continue to pray.

Don’t give up!

Jesus and Mary never give up on us, we are their children.

Would you give up on your child or leave them to suffer?

THE SORROWFUL MOTHER***

Memorare

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins,
my mother; to thee do I come,
before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy
hear and answer me.

Amen.
Zeldarocks2 --I will offer my rosary for you tonight!

Praying for you, Z.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory Be…

And for the intentions we hold in our heart…Lord, hear our prayer.

Holding the rosary is like holding the hand of Mary while we pray. Think on that.
Also, prayer is not about “feelings”; feelings come and go— we pray because we are in a relationship with Jesus.

Ask yourself. Do you genuinely authentically want to grow closer to God? If you do, just pray that God give you the power to pray. You can journal pray. You do not have to say the rosary. Maybe start with three hail mary’s a day. I only pray when I feel like it. I know that is a poor attitude. I think genuine prayers are worth more than recitations.
