So I’ve been reflecting lately, and I thought of an episode that happened nearly a year ago. I can’t remember whether I chose mortal sin. What should I do? Thank you

If you can’t remember, you probably didn’t.

If you’ve been to confession since then, it’s already forgiven, since it’s doubtful you chose to withhold it.

The best thing to do is to stop asking these kinds of questions on the internet. That won’t help you. It’ll only make you second guess more. Mention it at your next confession, but don’t worry about it.

Would you still have to mention a mortal sin that was committed long ago (which you didn’t know that was mortal when committing it) even though you go/have went to confession recently and ongoingly and only realised that it is a mortal sin?

If you only recently realized it was a mortal sin, it couldn’t possibly have been a mortal sin. A sin is mortal if committed with full knowledge. If you didn’t realize it was a grave matter at the time you did it, it doesn’t somehow retroactively become a mortal sin later.

Mention it in your regular confession if you forgot in the past, but don’t let it trouble you.
