Hi, my name is Ted, I am a college student who is taking a writing class and a paper I have to write is on a proposal. Well I am actually going to take this proposal and make it happen. The church I belong to, St. Andrew’s in Calumet City, IL, needs some repairs done to the ceiling in the church. I going to write a proposal to the priest explaining how the ceiling needs to be repaired, a donation I am going to make to start it, and ask for him to go ahead with the project. The problem I am having is that for this proposal, I have to cite some sources and what I was looking for is some verses/quotes from the bible that would support fixing or making beautiful God’s house. Then I can use the bible as one of my sources, plus I think it will make for a very good argument if I can quote the bible and the priest will accept my proposal. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Don’t know if this helps … but 2 Chronicles 24:13 might do the trick. But it might also be useful to employ the story of Francis of Assisi and the words spoken to him (“Go Francis, and repair my house.” … Jesus) …🤷

I don’t think most pastors would need persuasion to repair their church’s ceiling, especially if some kind of donation is involved. Unless he’s the kind of pastor who gives away all his socks and shirts to the poor unless somebody stops him…

Genesis 28:17 (2nd half of the verse):

“This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

“Zeal for thy house will consume me.” John 2:17 “For zeal for thy house has consumed me …” Psalms 69

Thanks for your guys’ post, all of these will come in handy and build my argument with the pastor.
