The Immaculate Heart of Mary tomorrow is listed as an optional memorial, and it is always on a Saturday. This would mean that by evening prayer it would be Sunday already. However there is listed a Canticle of Mary antiphon for evening prayer of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Should this replace Sunday’s antiphon or not?

The Vespers for Sunday would take precedence. As you say, the memorial of the Immaculate Heart is always on a Saturday, so I don’t understand why there would even be provisions for vespers for this particular commemoration.

Perhaps there are cases where the Immaculate Heart could be celebrated as a local solemnity as the patronal feast (of a parish or diocese)? In that case I could see vespers for the feast taking precedence over first vespers of the Sunday.

This is for use if the Immaculate Heart is promoted to a Solemnity which trumps Sunday. This can happen, for example, in Immaculate Heart Parish, in the church itself. That’s a Solemnity in that church, in which case, the Solemnity trumps the Sunday and the Evening Prayer II texts are Proper, with any missing parts from the Common.

On a related note, what happens tomorrow in regards to the memorial of St. Anthony of Padua vs the Immaculate Heart of Mary?

If the Immaculate Heart is a Solemnity, as with regards to the Claretians and other religious orders that celebrates it as a Solemnity, their evening prayer and the Mag. Ant. is that of the IHM.

Since I study under a Claretian School, I have the choice to keep it as a Solemnity or an optional memorial, as stated in the General Calendar, since I do not belong to their congregation but I am under it.
