Are the altar boys the only people forbidden to wear shoes? Or does everyone in the church have to remove their shoes, even if they do not enter the sanctuary? I would be afraid of athleteâs foot if I was forced to go to church without shoes. I thought the question had been answered by LSK (post 5) and also in post 7. Writing to your bishop about it would be a bit strange, and if you talk to your priest he might think so too, but if you are really concerned about the dress code in your church there is nothing preventing you having a discussion with your priest. The Church does not usually regulate what items of clothing the faithful should wear within the bounds of common sense and decency.
Sure, the GIRM does not say anything about any type of footwear. Footwear is a personal choice that anyone in the congregation is allowed to decide on his own.
Way cool dudes!No, because people are trying to help you, and canât fathom for the life of them why canvas shoes would not be allowed in the parish church. It would help to supply them with the âwhyâ so they can be of more assitance.
I actually have pink Converse about the color of Laudate vestments. Got them when Wards closed out for a dollar a shoe. I only wear them once a week. The kids at school love to see me in them.I agree with the person who says they should match the liturgical colours, if worn at Mass. (And yes, that means PINK on Laudate Sunday!!)
There is a shrine parish in my diocese that has Franciscan Friars. They always wear sandals without socks. I do not see anything wrong with sandals. Jesus wore them.We have one currently that wears sandles without socks during the summer. It does paint a strange picture when you view the priest head to toe in their vestments and see either socks or bare toes.

The friars wear vestments too when they say Mass, but they still wear the sandals which are part of their habit.
