In the New Testament God revealed His wrath through in very punitive and often violent ways. Two questions, 1) Does this infer that God was violent? 2) Was God in favor of “capital punishment?”
God says this to Noah seems to set up a provision for capital punishment. However this is when the Nation of Israel is still in its infancy and His plan for the nation ( like any good father ) adapts as the “child” matures.[6] Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for God made man in his own image.
Actually, the Israeli nation was some hundreds of years in the future. The passage in question is part of the Noahic Covenant, and it has never been abrogated.From Genesis 9:
