Captain America: Civil War thread

I think it was a very good movie. It was definitely the best movie produced by Marvel Studios. It also ranks in my top 5 movies of all time. Disney once again had the magic touch. There is one thing that concerned me though. It was the possible gay subtext between Captain America and Bucky Barnes. I know that many fans pair them together. Maybe Disney was giving those fans a nod.
 
DC rules in animation, but are terrible in real life movies. Marvel dominates real life movies, and has ok animation.

:confused: Steve kissed Sharon and Bucky nodded approvingly. Both Bucky and Steve have shown interest in women and been in romantic relationships with women.

I’m sorry, but any “subtext” is completely in people’s heads. There’s nothing in the film to support that. Not everything has an agenda behind it. My advice is to stay away from fan fiction sites. Those people sadly make everything sexual.

From the very first Cap movie Bucky and Steve have been like brothers. This movie was no different. I feel sorry for anyone who assumes that means they are gay. That shows no understanding or appreciation for genuine friendship.

Seriously? Heroes fighting is a trope that goes back to at least the 30’s. You’re missing out on a great movie. If nothing else, getting to see Black Panther and Spiderman is worth the price of admission.
 
My adult-ish son, that I thought for sure would say he wasn’t interested in seeing this movie, saw it the other night and said he actually liked it a lot. 👍

It really does have something for almost everyone. I went with a pretty diverse group of people, and all of them loved it, even the ones who missed the other Marvel films. It’s just such a great, solid action movie. 👍
 
It probably helps that these Marvel superhero movies have achieved a reputation for jokiness, and this one was fairly serious.

More serious than the other Marvel films, perhaps, but not as deadly serious as the dour Batman v. Superman.

I will be buying Civil War when it comes out on Blu-ray – and might even see it in the theater again. Not planning to do so for BvS.
