I’ve seen Cardinal Arinze’s name mentioned in threads from time to time but never really knew much about him. However, we have familyland tv channel now and for the past couple of months I have been watching his talks and discussions.
He’s a really impressive person. Good communicator and speaks in an easy to understand way.
I don’t really have a question but if anyone can tell me more about him I’m happy to listen.
 
He was once the youngest bishop in the world- aged 32!
He has been Prefect of the CDWDS from 2002.
A very impressive man, I agree. He was a papabile in 2005, and is the highest ranking African in the Church, as Cardinal Bishop of Velletri-Signi.
As to whether Benedict and he have had some issues, I do not know. But it was the current Holy Father who named Arinze as Cardinal Bishop & renamed as Prefect, so HH must at least respect his abilities.
 
If you have an iPod, there’s a video podcast of clips of him answering audience questions. I love listening to him!

I am unaware of any issues. In fact, he and Pope Benedict have been very consistent on many, many things.

If any of you are interested, Cardinal Arinze has two books out and they are published by Ignatius Press. One is his autobiography and the other is a book on the liturgy called Celebrating the Eucharist.
 
I have forgotten where I read that but I will try to find that article about the Cardinal and the Pope and get back to you.🙂
 
Interesting, I just heard of him today, and I already quoted him someplace else.

In our local Catholic paper, he was quoted regarding Catholic universities:
Catholic identity in Catholic schools needs to “unmistakeably permeate every discipline, and its graduates ought to be willing to stand up for the church.”

Less than than, they would cease to be Catholic universities, but instead universities that “happen to be” Catholic.

Speaking of Universities… I am the proud mother of a daughter who just graduated from the only “Catholic” university in NC.
A beautiful and well run school, although not private. I could not have afforded to send her to a “private Catholic college”. I am a retired single parent.

I chose the next best thing. I also went to a graduation at a “private Catholic” college last week and was not nearly as impressed.

Sometime, it isn’t the money that buyes the best.😃 😃 😃 😃 😃

No, I haven’t had time to do much research, but JUST as soon as I find it, I"LL certainly let know know.😃
