I do not understand why you say it is not legitimately “Catholic” .

Catholic Family News is a monthly journal dedicated to preserving the Catholic Faith of all time, “in the same meaning and the same explanation” as Catholic doctrine has been taught throughout the ages.

They are dedicated to upholding the Latin Tridentine Mass, the Anti-Modernist measures of Pope St. Pius X, the Message of Our Lady of Fatima, and the richness, beauty and holiness of the Catholic Faith of all time.
Catholic ministries have a relationship with the Catholic Church. For example, Catholic Answers has a relationship with their local diocese. I don’t mean every “recognized” Catholic ministry is good. I just mean Catholic Family News, to my knowledge, has no relationship with the Catholic Church. Whether it is good or bad is a matter of opinion, but its lack of connection to the Catholic Church is an objective reality.

It seems to attack the leaders of the Catholic Church more than it attacks leaders of other religions, more than political or media powers. What do you think is the long term effect of reading a publication that regards the leaders of the Catholic Church as the main problem of our times?

Now they do have a right to express their views. But if a publication uses the word “Catholic” in their title, it is important to point out that it if it is not connected to the Catholic Church. We also need to do that with the National Catholic Reporter for instance.

Thank you for this information, I will not attach any articles from it to this forum again. I read from many different sources. It is my understanding that Catholic Family News has been in publication for a long time. The articles are more traditional and I like to hear from that side of things as well as other sides. I also read many opinions from people on this forum, there are some that I agree with and some that I don’t. I then form my own opinion. I realize that not all publications are acceptable to all.

I apologize if I came across too harsh. It was not directed at you and I forget that not every one has the same history here.

A few years ago, a program called “Real Catholic TV” was called into question by the diocese they were located in for using the name “Catholic”. This program had a lot of followers here, and still does. To their credit, when the violation of canon law became known, they changed their name and successfully re-branded themselves as “Church Militant.” The issue became public, so I guess I have a great suspicion of those that deliberately now violate canon law to use the name “Catholic” without authority or association with the Catholic Church. If a group is willing to deceive others this way, their integrity should not be trusted in other ways.

Here are two things I do. First, I always click the “About Us” portion of unfamiliar websites. I look at the article titles. I get a good idea where the person or organization (which is often one and the same) is coming from. This sheds light on the article. Second, if they use the name “Catholic”, I will find their location and look to see if their diocese has a link to their apostolates. A violation in this is a big danger sign that you could be dealing with heresy, schism, or at the least, ignorance.

Yes, take in all the information you can, but just be careful to avoid being the like the commercial where the woman believes everything they put on the internet is true. Not everything on internet that claims to be Catholic is Catholic.

Thanks for the advice. I will still continue reading this publication as I feel Catholic Family News is interesting and informative on many things like the messages from Our lady of Fatima, but I will keep in mind what you said about it.
