Yeah, poor man… it just doesn’t make sense otherwise. SighThis is the first thing that came to my mind, as well, as there is no other rational reason for this.
The article cites the interview…Thank God for the New York Times and their tireless, objective campaign on behalf of the victims of clerical sexual abuse, And, of course, we owe a sincere debt of gratitude to David Clohessy, and all those selfless folks at SNAP, for always putting those poor victims first, and foremost, in all of their noble efforts to do the right thing.
I mean, come on, with two bastiens of righteousness such as the New York Times and SNAP on the case, who could possibly doubt the veracity of such a story…unless you have a brain, and actually have learned how to use it. I would sooner believe Mephistopheles before I would accept at face value anything promulgated against the Church by the New York Times, or SNAP.
The Roman Catholic Church has had few enemies as mendacious, or utterly committed to its destruction in its history than those antagonists at SNAP and the New York Times. It is time to step back, and independently research this purported story. Let’s find our own truth, rather than trust that salacious RAG of a newspaper to supply us with its typical convolution of what is true.
If true, Egan must be given a chance to elaborate on his thinking; if false, we have yet another blatant smear of the Church to add to an ever-enlarging litany of slanders. I will withhold my judgement until I can find independent, objective verification of this story.
Would it be possible for you to be disappointed in anything done by the institutional Church or stated by a Churchman? How was this purported interview conducted? Who was present? Was it Taped? Who sanctioned this purported interview, and were guidelines stipulated before it occurred? What is the background of the interviewer? How was SNAP so quick to respond to this, and were they in any way involved with this purported interview?
Excuse me if I am skeptical regarding this report. Was a mentally incapacitated man preyed upon to further an agenda? Something about this doesn’t pass the smell test. Independent verification of all things relative to this story needs to be done, quickly, and thoroughly.
We know that at this time, with the HHS debacle threatening the extremist positions, that the sex abuse scandals, the Church’s lamentable “achilles heal”, would become a retaliatory target of response by the radical, left-wing media. I have been expecting such things.
However, there is something about the timing, and the particulars of this story, that leaves me wanting for more details. When it comes to the media, I have been made both a cynic, and a skeptic.
As a rhetorical question, it is absurd on its face, and were I to respond to such sarcasm I would be wasting valuable time and energy. So I shall do what I always do regarding your uninspired retorts…ignore it.Would it be possible for you to be disappointed in anything done by the institutional Church or stated by a Churchman?
