Dear Forum

Since I am Hungarian by birth, Canadian by naturalisation (I was 16 months old when we Emigrated to Canada), I love Hungary’s Catholicism. I am also proud of a Son of Hungary, a Spiritual Father, someone who I think anyone can have a devotion to, Hungarian or Not, especially under these increasingly socialistic governments.

Does anyone here have a devotion to Cardinal Mindszenty, or at least admire him?

Would He classify as a “White-Martyr” and “Confessor” according to the 1962 rubrics??

Hungarians and Non Hungarians are most welcome to post!!

I have long been an admirer of Cardinal Mindszenty and I try to emulate his virtues.
:):):).

I’m not Hungarian, but I read about his life in college and though the details have faded, I still have respect and awe for what he went through.

amsjj 🙂

Jesus, God and man,
imprisoned by love in Thy most holy Sacrament,
have mercy upon us.
  • Blessed John Henry Newman, December 22, 1851
Tú y yo sabemos por la fe que oculto en las especies sacramentales está Cristo,
ese Cristo con su Cuerpo, con su Sangre, con su Alma, y con su Divinidad,
prisonero de amor.

… Our Lord Himself frequently said; and it is recorded as an Apostolic tradition from Him
by St. Justin the Martyr. He says ‘Jesus often said, “They who are near Me are near a
fire”’.
  • Abp. W. B. Ullathorne, August 1st 1886

I remember him quite well.
He and the Polish Cardinal were hero’s of mine.
Why aren’t they saints?I was a paperboy and followed news closely.
We had a Hungarian Population in the town that I came from and a 12 year old boy joined our Boy Scout troop.
Our leader told us he had fought in the uprising.
We were in. awe of him.
