I think what Cardinal Murphy is doing is prophetic and inspired by the Holy Spirit. As were the Austrian bishops in challenging a false attempt to appoint a reactionnary bishop by the Pope.

This gives hope that the Pope’ coming appointment of the Enfglish primate will be tempered and not reationnary as what he tried to do in Austra. Pray that the Holy Spirit leads the Pope away from reractionnary fundamentalism in his future appointments.

Pray to for the bishops of Europe that they continue to show such faith as the Austrian bishops did.

I’m not what I would call a rigid traditionalists. I take from both sides. But in this case, I have to cast my vote with Cardinal Burke. What Cardinal Murphy did was not necessary. Cardinal Burke is not a radical right wing reactionary. In fact, he is a very middle of the road and level headed man.

That being said, I would say that due to his office in the Church, it would have been diplomatic to welcome him and simply tell the organizing committee how to go about future invitations to other prelates.

I know that I should not be judging the actions of any bishop. I have no right to do so and our holy rule forbids it. So I’ll just shut up before I get into trouble for disobedience.

Fraternally,

JR 🙂

I think there’s a big piece of the picture missing here: the blogger doesn’t have a great track record with accuracy in his reports, and I’d like to hear the LMS’s take on this.

It seems to me that this doesn’t have nearly as much to do with traditionalists and any EF/OF split as it has to do with Cardinal O’Connor feeling like Archbishop Burke (or the Latin Mass Society) stepped on his toes. Not that its necessarily a mature or considered reaction, but its a fairly predictable one.

While it may be likely soon, let’s keep in mind that His Excellency, Archbishop Burke is currently not a cardinal.

JR, so in the late 60s onward, if a religious community had wanted to continue using the TLM, they could have without any problems from Rome?

Surprised ?

It’s all adding up. The discarding of the Tiara, and the promotion of Collegiality.

I’ve suspected something for over a year now, but I can’t speak of it here. But don’t be surprised if a shocking event is revealed. And it will be revealed by someone on his deathbed, if he’s still alive that is.
What on earth does this gibberish mean???
I don’t think I can have a discussion with someone who believes apostacy cannot exist, by virtue of Christ’s promise that the gates of hell can’t prevail against His Church.

Go back over on Liturgy and Sacraments and do what you do best.

Well said. There are two mindsets in the Church. The ones who see what is happening, and those who can’t. Obviously, you do.

How many other groups have offered over a million Rosaries for BXVI , as has the Society ?

We had better join the Society and offer millions more, lest he see the same fate as John XXII.
What was that? Dying in France?
