Carrie Fisher has died

I hope this doesn’t sound too insensitive, but did Princess Leia die in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? I know Han Solo did.

In any case, may Carrie Fisher rest in peace.

Princess Leia survives Episode VII. Carrie Fisher has apparently already filmed all of her parts for Star Wars Episode VIII. I have no idea if her character will survive that movie or what any plans were/will now be for Princess Leia to appear in Episode IX.

My son got teary-eyed when I told him that Carrie Fisher had died.

She was a guest again on the Grahame Norton show in England just a few weeks ago, she seemed so much happier and at peace with herself then on the previous occasion. Some who are aware of her personal struggle will know what I mean.

As a Star Wars fan I find this news very sad.

I find this sad indeed. But we need to remember she played a character. I think we can do without all the references to Star Wars. I am a huge Star Wars fan but a real person died. She had a family and a life outside of a fictional character. I understand that is how we identify with her and kind of grew up with it, but let’s respect her as a soul, a person. There is no " force" here, just the mercy and justice of a loving Father.

It is sad, and what you say is true, that we mourn the loss of Carrie Fisher, not Princess Leia/General Organa. However, I suspect there are a lot of us who grew up with Star Wars (okay, maybe some of us haven’t grown up, but you get my meaning), and her passing evokes a broad range of associated things. I’m not a terribly emotional person, but I honestly cried when I heard she had had a heart attack and was not doing well (I’m a grown man, and my child is one of the next generation of Star Wars fans). Her passing brings out a lot of emotions for some of us, but you are correct, we should first and foremost pray for the repose of her soul and for consolation for all who mourn her passing (especially her daughter and her mom), and do likewise for all who passed into the next life today.

All of this. She was involved in something that brought me a considerable amount of joy, helped shaped my hobbies, and influenced me regarding the kind of friends I would eventually seek out. Many celebrities passed this year for whom I could separate the person from their work. This one in particular just hits home on a more personal level and so I also cried in spite of what I know in my head to be true. For my sister it was Alan Rickman. For my friend it was Bowie.

Prayers for Carrie and for all who have passed this day.
 
You honor the dead as you see fit. Yes, they are in God’s embrace now, but we remember how they made us happy. There is no disrespect in that. I pray for thier families as well.

Same for me. I’ve never cried over a celebrity death before, but I cried when I heard the news.

And now I just heard that Debbie Reynolds passed today. What a horrible two days for this family. Prayers for all of them.
