Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives; fell on his knees to pray,
Saying, Father if it be your will, please take this cup away,
But not my will Father, through me let your will be done,
So God sent an angel, to strengthen his beloved son,
His agony was overwhelming as he prayed so earnestly,
Drops of blood fell from his face for our infirmities,
His hour had come, to pay the price, and set us sinners free,
Opening the gates of heaven, as he suffered and died upon a tree,
It seems, there is so much pain and suffering in the world today,
So many questions; seemingly no answers when we pray,
Jesus opened the gates of heaven, when he died upon the cross,
Out of his immense love for us, that no soul would be lost,
Our suffering is redemptive, when embraced by me and you,
Jesus opened the gates; suffering has the power to carry sinners through!
