There is nothing wrong with Carthusians. They are a good Religious order and they are in full communion with the Church. They’re very traditional and orthodox. I would suggest looking them up on google.

Traditionalists wouldn’t complain about a group that didn’t like the Vatican II changes. Apparently NewsTheMan is right about this thread.

Indeed, the Carthusians are a wonderful order. They have their own rites for the Mass, revised in 1981 (I believe still awaiting official approval).

Their unofficial motto is “numquam reformata quia numquam deformata” (never reformed, because never deformed).

For a good snapshot (well, a looong 3 hour snapshot) of Carthusian life, see the film (available on DVD) “Into Great Silence”. Absolutely magnificent film.

Although I am a Benedictine secular oblate, I find the Carthusian way of life enormously attractive and a good model for “voluntary simplicity”.
 
The Good: EVERYTHING

The Bad: that there aren’t more of them.
 
I’m having a very hard time imagining anyone starting a thread to slam the O. Cart. Why? What’s the point? To stir up trouble where there is not (and has never been) any trouble? If that’s what’s behind this thread, it’s unconscionable. If it’s some other reason, maybe I’m being dense today, but I just don’t get it. 🤷

None us do. The thread was clearly posted by a troll as flame bait, but I certainly felt the need to stand up for this venerable order!
