Touted as pro-life and pro-family moderate who values his Catholic faith

By Meg Jalsevac

SCRANTON, PA, November 14, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Within 24 hours of winning the bitter Pennsylvanian Senate race against incumbent Republican Rick Santorum, Democrat Senator-elect Bob Casey, Jr. let his real agendas show through. Citizenlink.org has reported that, the very day after the election, Casey announced that he would work in support of legislation to increase the scope of federal hate crimes law to encompass sexual orientation and gender identity as a victim group . . .

No one should be surprised at this. Gay “hate crime” legislation gives legal protection to gays that the law does not give to others, and makes it a greater crime to commit a crime against a gay than against a heterosexual. So much for “equality before the law”. It is virtually impossible to get the backing of the Democrat party or its funding sources without paying one’s dues to “gender politics” in one way or another. I will hazard to say this is certainly not going to be his last compromise.

So being pro-life means allowing gay people to be victimized and discriminated against?

Maybe this one of the reasons your pro-life message is not penetrating society, its being tied up with ridiuclous efforts to preserve antiquated prejudices.

Assumes facts not in evidence. Gays just won the Senate and the House. They own San Francisco. They own Disney World. They own Hollywood. They run the New York Times.

Some discrimation.

Maybe I misread your comments. You were being facetious ?

Now funny, well maybe not that funny. But, I stated that Casey was a “pro-life supporter in name only” when I heard he would run as a pro-life candidate.

His dad was a good “old fashioned” democrat and that is how the young Casey got elected. Only in this case IMHO the son is not what the father was.

When all is said and done, a lot of gay people are still being harrased, assulted, beaten, and even killed, for no other reason then their sexual orientation. Even if they are Catholic and live in chastity, as required by the Catechism. The Catechism also makes it clear that these kind of hate crimes are contrary to Catholic teachings.

So, my opinion is that Casey is on the right track. We should show compassion for the Gays, even as we ask them to commit themselves to a life of chastity.👍

Yes, domestic abuse among gays is the hidden little secret. It is horrific.

Aside from that, how would anyone know to go after a person because of that they do in private?

Because some of you guys like gay men’s property and money. And you’ll do anything you can to take it. Also don’t you str8 guys regard 10 men kicking a gay man to death as “bonding” experience?

“Str8”? “kicking a gay man to death”?

With all charity, I think you need to step back from this issue a bit.

We should show compassion for the Gays
Creating special interest groups, groups against which a crime is an aggravated crime is not compassion. It violates the basic tenet of liberal democracy: all are equal under law. It is also against the faith: all are equal in the eyes of God.

It creates animosity, not reduces it. It puts other people at a civic liability. It is the essence of fascism: people are not equal and therefore the state must make allowances. It is the same mindset which allows society to kill babies and off the elderly in the name of “choice” and “compassion”. It is not “social justice”, it is not charity, it is just the opposite.

What a vague sentence. “will work in support of …increase the scope of…” Sounds like nothing will change.

I’m doing a search to find out just what our current “hate crimes” legislation is. I am amazed to find one site describe the reporting of this:
The assault, robbery, crucifixion, and death on 1998-OCT-12 of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student, breathed new life in to the call for an upgrade to the Federal hate crime law
religioustolerance.org/hom_hat1.htm
as this:
Emotions running high in skillfully manipulated media event,"

what does one do to skillfully manipulate the reporting of a crucifixon?!

Hate crimes laws are a somewhat silly invention, but including gays simply puts kicking a man to death because he is gay on an equal footing with kicking a man to death because he is Catholic. I really don’t think either group should have special protection; both guys are dead.

Let us just agree to disagree with some things others think are proper.

In my opinion it seems that when we make an action protected then there is a small minority that makes that protection a target. Things just don’t get better they get worse because of conflict.

A case in mind is hate speech. We as a country are now loosing our right to free speech in small bites. Many people only think that their speech is to be protected. Just watch the news.

A pot of boiling water without a lid evaporates. A pot of boiling water with a tight fitting lid explodes. Remember to let the steam evaporate before it becomes a bomb. In other words let people talk and then most will just listen to themselves and not explode onto those that are protected.

You would think so-called independently-minded people of no faith would see the alarming element in hate-crime legislation and be disturbed: Hate crime laws go from criminalizing acts to criminalizing thought.

Agreed. Let’s look at how these laws work. A guy goes to a bar with his girlfriend and another guy comes up and propositions her. So he punches the guy out. In most cases its simple assault if charges are even filed.

Let’s say however that the guy comes up and and propositions him so punches him out. ,Now instead of simple assault it’s a hate crime( a felony) and if Casey gets his way a federal offense.

Does that seem fair?.

Casey sold out his dad’s legacy for place at the table in the modern Democrat Party. That sad.

I don’t see how promoting this legislation goes against being pro-life.

All life is equal. Life in the womb and life out. Life of a rich man and life of poor one. Lief of someone with opposite sex attraction is equal to the life of someone with same sex attraction.
