Hi, I have a question. Can I, (an Altar Server) still wear my Cassock and Surplice here in my house while watching the mass in my room?

I was always taught that a surplice is liturgical wear, and shouldn’t be worn outside of liturgy. The cassock is an everyday article of clothing.

I’m not going to judge because to be honest that’s something I would do be but you probably shouldn’t.

Since you are not serving at that Mass, that really wouldn’t be appropriate.

I own a cassock and surplice which was given to me by an ex-seminarian who, like me, had to shop in the “Big and Tall” department, and I have used it many times to serve the EF (Traditional Latin Mass). It is put away and I haven’t worn it in over 15 years.

There is no Church teaching or disciplinary directive against if of which I’m aware, but those quasi-vestments really aren’t to be worn outside of a liturgy, or unless a man is a seminarian and has permission to wear it on campus, to class, etc. Even in the latter case he would only wear the cassock. These are attire that are intended for a specific purpose, and they are no more appropriate in secular life (unless one is a priest) than would be pajamas to Walmart or gym shorts to Mass (even though, sadly, you will see both of these nowadays).
