Casting the Gilligan's Island movie

So apparently this is going to be the upcoming cast for a Gilligan’s Island movie.

Michael Cera as Gilligan
Josh Gad as Skipper
Scarlett Johansson as Ginger
Mila Kunis as Mary Ann
Armie Hammer as Professor
Kelsey Grammer as Mr. Howell
Allison Janney as Mrs. Howell

I don’t know a few of those actors, but the Kunis cast seems to be the worst one. Based on the pictures, the Gilligan and Skipper guys look the part well enough. I just hope hollywood doesn’t botch it. :whistle: Keep it wholesome. Keep it slapstick.
 
Kelsey Grammer as Mr. Howell seems a solid choice. Howell is basically a variation of the Frazier character: pompous, wealthy, a bit of a snob.
 
Cera is perfect. He IS Gilligan! Another good choice would have been Jimmy Fallon.

Our daughter looks like Scarlett Johansson, so I’m glad she is Ginger. A good choice.

No opinion on the other choices. I think it’s wrong that Kelsey Grammar is walking around free because of his celebrity and money while other coke possessors are rotting in prison today. But he’s a good choice to play Mr. Howell.

I agree–keep it wholesome and slapstick. No sex in the grass huts, even between Thurston and Lovey (they’re married!)! Make this a movie for the children, not the grownups!

I can’t see this many A-listers signing on for a project likely to flop (The recent A-Team and Get Smart movies didn’t do so hot.)

I missed that particular line. So we can offer our own suggestions then! I might nix Kunis for Sophia Bush who, correct me if I’m wrong, seems less raunchy than a lot of celebrities.
 
So is this a real project, or just an idea?

If the first, I’d say, about time!

I cannot imagine a movie out of Hollywood these days doing a remake of a 60s comedy being anything but a bore. The Addams Family was the worst. I would have much rather have watched 4 of their old episodes in a row on the silver screen instead. At least I would have laughed. But that is the only Hollywood remake movie I have ever seen, I am simply as cynical as it gets with movie makers and their bend for sex and gross and gore. And DULL.

Just give me 4 episodes of Gilligan’s Island instead please. And, for the record if asked, I prefer Ginger over MaryAnn. 🙂
