Is it alright to just talk to the Blessed Mother? To just sit and talk to her?

Yes, why not? If you want to make sure it’s her you are talking to you might want to use icons or statues of her and some beginning prayer dedicated to her.
May she hear and help you out!

Thank you. I mean no disrespect to Mother Mary. I say at least one Hail Mary everyday. Just out of respect to her and to put me in the right frame of mind. But I also want a relationship with my Spiritual Mother. I am a generally open person with others. I want the same type of relationship with her.

Dear Kathleen,

Yes, of course, you can speak to the Blessed Mother – sit and talk with her as you would your own Mother for Mary is “Your Mother” in the order of grace, given to all of us by Jesus from the Cross in the person of John the beloved disciple. “Behold your Mother!”

There is no disrespect in lovingly speaking to her – in fact in her apparition to St. Juan Diego she tenderly reminded him: “Am I not your Mother? Are you not in the crossing of my arms?”

It always touches my heart to read those words, as well as the words she spoke to Sister Lucia in explaining the First Saturday devotions in which she asks that we “keep her company” meditating on the mysteries of her Rosary.

St. John Paul II in an address Oct. 1982 said:
Where the Mother is, there too is the Son. When one moves away from the Mother, sooner or later he ends up keeping distant from the Son as well. It is no wonder that today, in various sectors of secularised society, we note a widespread crisis of faith in God, preceded by a drop in devotion to the Virgin Mother.
We grow closer to Jesus when we grow closer to Mary! 🙂
