Catechism 1216

I have a question about the Catechism. In paragraph 1216, it says: “…Baptism is God’s most beautiful and magnificent gift…Baptism because sin is buried in the water; anointing for it is priestly and royal as are those who are anointed; enlightenment because it radiates light; clothing since it veils our shame; bath because it washes; and seal as it is our guard and the sign of God’s Lordship.” When it says it veils our shame, I always thought that Baptism washes evereything away, sin and shame.

Baptism doesn’t remover our knowledge of our sin, it will always be there. However, as the catechism says, it veils it, meaning, it puts sin behind is, although not forgotten.
