Hello all,

I was wondering if you could tell me where I could purchase or acquire a copy of the Catechism of the Council of Trent? I know TAN sells one for like 30-40 dollars but I wanted to see if y’all knew somewhere I could find one cheaper.

Or, if any of y’all have an extra copy you would be willing to get rid of! 🙂

Thanks and God bless!

You can always read it online too.

Landon. You have got some good references to get the catechism of Trent. To tell you the truth I only know Trent for the initiation of the Tridentine Mass, didn’t realize it issued a catechism… which is interesting and makes sense given that this council was about re-launching catechism or the counter-reformation.

I am curious why you would be interested in that catechism… is it that much different than the one Pope John Paul II issued?

My understanding is that each catechism (Trent, Baltimore, CCC, etc.) covers different things, and a lot of the same things in different ways. Trent, for example, gives a good presentation on spiritual communion, which the other catechisms do not cover.

Ah, OK ProVobis, that is very interesting… I was not aware of that…live and learn…no wonder I am a life long learner (not by choice) 🙂

The Catechism of Trent teaches Catholic dogma and doctrine in four sections:
  1. The Lord’s Prayer
  2. The Ten Commandments
  3. The Seven Sacraments
  4. The Apostles’ Creed
(I can’t remember which order they are given)

But if you want a clear, concise, unambiguous presentation of the Catholic Faith, then I would heartily recommend Trent’s Catechism. It will certainly edify your soul.

I have a brand new copy from Refuge of Sinners Publishing that I wouldn’t mind selling to you. Let me know if you are interested.
