Hello to All,

This morning was our rite of welcome and acceptance! The journey I started last september is unfolding very fast now. This last 5 months in RCIA were beautiful and it also did not go the way i expected. This first Pre-catechunate stage is for inquiring and acquire a good general grasp of Catholicism. I also read a lot on my own. I was expecting a lot of theological challenges and hard debates, i am from a Baptist background. I entered with a lot of questions and my own pre conceived ideas and was looking to get into some good old fashion intellectual dogfights… well no such thing happened. We meet every tuesday night for class and in a very gentle way, a lot of the stuff I, as a former protestant, was absolutly at odds like marianology, the eucharist etc etc just made sense to me. It just came about very slowly. A lot of personal stuff and issues that i have been struggling with for so many years are becoming well, less and less of an issue. If this is what it called a conversion of the heart, well i can say it feel pretty good!!!

Si i am now officially a Catechumen next big step is our Advent retreat and the Rite of Election.

Peace

Lent retreat!! I just read myself!! I think i am still on the wings of this beautiful part of the year!!!

Peace

I also come from a Baptist background, and the way I accepted everything was in my intellect. Everything just made sense. It wasn’t always easy to understand, but once you did, it lit up pretty quickly. It wasn’t rooted in feelings, and that was something that you have to let go of, and things will come quicker.

Awesome! I’m coming into the Church from a Protestant background myself. This was mainly Baptist and Methodist, with a sprinkling of experimentation with Evangelical/Pentecostal/AOG-non-denom types, and a year in Messianic Judaism: none fulfilled the questions I had, and I can’t “feel” good about that which is so unexplained and contradictory. I LOVE the Catholic Church and am daily experiencing the joy because it appeals to both intellect and reason, as well as provides me a solid basis to filter my feelings. This is beyond important and so overlooked in sola sriptura/sola fide approaches.

Make no mistake though, this is, in a lot of ways, the easy part.

Anyone can be excited about basic training and perform well in garrison, how we perform in the fight is what determines our worth to the Church.

Thanks for posting! I as well just went through the RCIA Rite of Welcoming this morning. It was a beautiful Mass & I’m eager to receive the Eucharist. I’m counting down the weeks! 🙂

Congratulations! I, too am going through RCIA. My Rite of Welcome and Acceptance was in November, and now I am a Candidate. I love RCIA and am so in love with the faith and the Church.
God Bless, Ruth
