I have a question. If there was a bishop visiting a different diocese to clarify NOT his diocese and shall be the presider of the mass at the cathedral of that diocese, where shall he seat? At the cathedra of the bishop of that diocese or at another chair laid down for him?

Follow up question: If a priest is visiting another diocese what bishop name should he mention, his bishop’s name or the name of the bishop of that diocese?

In this article it says , " Logically, since each diocese has only one bishop, there is one cathedra in a cathedral and indeed in each diocese. Again, logically, only the diocesan bishop (or as the documents say “a bishop he permits to use it”" That Other “Seat of Wisdom”—The Role of the Celebrant’s Chair in the Life of the Church

As far as referring to a bishop’s name in the Eucharistic Prayer , I have always understood that the priest says the name of the bishop in whose he is in for that particular Mass .

A different chair. One that’s still prominent, but not the Cathedra.
f a priest is visiting another diocese what bishop name should he mention, his bishop’s name or the name of the bishop of that diocese?
The Bishop of the Diocese he is in

funny story, though- I’ve been at a Mass where for some reason the celebrant didn’t know the bishop, so he just said ‘Benedict out pope, and … our bishop’ haha

A visiting Bishop may be allowed to sit in the Cathedra if the ordinary is not present and has given permission.

When praying mass, the priest or bishop always says the name of the bishop who is the ordinary for the parish / chapel the mass is being prayed in.

God Bless
