Cathloics at non denominational Bible College?

That issue came up during a Prayer Meeting at a nearby Parish. I have been invited to sit in class at a non denominational (it boils down to Protestant) Bible College. This is an accredited College that give BA Degrees, not a Protestant Church bible study.

Do any of you guys take classes for credit at non denominational Bible Colleges? What’s your thoughts about me sitting in Class with my wife? She is in her 4th year.

i wouls go too the class with her,i was in a non catholic bible school f02 3 semesters i left and was asked too leave Cause of My Catholic Faith and for attending Mass on Sunday,they will try 2 get u both "SAVED’ but u are allready and may think and they will and say that you both are not bible believing christians and i am sure you both are of course my was a Fundermentalist School.

.I was seen by students going to both Daily and Sunday Mass,I had a bunch of roomates in like a large 25 person dorm room,complain about me praying my Rosary,useing a Catholic Study Bible,The Dean of Students at that time allowed me to get away with it,then a New Dean Of Students came who did not Accept that.So i had to leave cause my Christian Faith Tradition was so different,i had some very good friends thier.but the see things so different i was disagreeing with how certian things doctrines were taught and they Did not believe in Sacred Scripture plus Sacred Tradition,I agreed to leave cause i did not fit in thier Theologically.The school closed about 5-6 years later they had a couple of School/Church splits.i must say i was not glad it closed…

Well, in my case, the Dean gave permission for me to sit in class with my wife. I will not be given a workbook, do assigments, or take tests. I assume that I’m not supposed to ask questions or make comments either? My wife made it clear that I am not interested in converting to Protestantism, and that I go to Mass every morning.

If I were to pay the tuition fee, I would probably be enrolled? The reason for me accompanying my wife is because I don’t want her to drive alone in the dark next winter, plus sitting out in the parking lot for two hours is not a good idea either.

I already got some static from my Catholic friends at church about doing this.

Why would catholics want to go to these schools. I know it isn’t always true, but a lot of times non demoninational institutions are very anti catholic. They always want to save people which is good, but they want to get people on their side. This leads me to another question though, can a catholic go to a non denominational bible college? I had a friend of mine who strongly considered going to one? He didn’t go, but I wonder if it is okay. Also, is it okay for a Catholic to go to a religious college where you have to study another religion. I had teachers at my catholic high school who went to an LCMS college that was close by where they required that you had to take lutheran theology courses. Is that okay?

I would encourage it! If it’s a non-denom Evangelical School then the Catholic Church will surely come up.

You will have a better understanding of where your common beliefs are, and where they differ, great way to share the faith** AFTER** class if asked.

Whats the worst that can come about? You get asked to leave? Nothing lost, your there for free and may get some insight to some scripture passages. Not everything is anti-catholic for the sake of being anti-catholic, unless it’s CARM, Calvary Chapel School of Ministry or the Berean Beacon :hypno:

My wife has been employed at an AG private school for 17 years and does the Chapel occasionally, plus a weekly jail chaplaincy. She is paid well for her ministry work, and we need the money.

I don’t know much about the Vineyard other than they began in Calvary Chapel in the Jesus freak movement? They do seem to do well with reaching the drug and alcohol crowd. I have volunteered with them at a food ministry, and many were rehabilitating addicts, prisoners and others that have had troubled past. Praise God for that

Vineyard is mostly Yuppies now with small home groups that meet on Sunday for modern worship music. Professional people have the skills to lead small groups, and then when it gets going strong they plant another church. Of all the Protestants, Vineyard seems to be the most free of the Catholic Church, however, many of the Vineyard churches have a Catholic Crucifix hanging in a small chapel with access to the main sanitary. I think it’s for baptisms?
