LtTony:
BrJimC on whyislam.org has launched another attack against Christianity, this one regarding Catholic missionaries’ alleged “cowardice.” I have to leave for the evening. Can anyone supply some ammo for a reply?

TIA, Jim

Some were cowardly - they deserve all the blame they get, IMO. Real shepherds do not flee when the wolves come - that is how hirelings behave, according to Jesus (John 10)

The whole business is a horrible stain on the Church - that Catholics can murder, and worse still, can murder thousands, says very little in favour of the depth of their formation, or in favour of the quality of their Christianity. Did Jesus kill ? I think not.

That which is indefensible should never be defended - to do so is to degrade the religion one seeks to defend. 😦 ##

Thanks, Michael. I chose not to “defend” it. You are absolutely correct on the shameful behavior of Christians, including Catholics. Initial research and BrJimC’s lack of credibility made me skeptical. The basic news stories didn’t have info on the role of the cleargy; that takes some digging, but it’s there.
I just objected to his tone, his ignorance of the people who were saved, and his condemnation of all of Catholicism for the event. Clergy involved in mass murder is one thing, but nuns terrified by a crowd wielding machetes and choosing to flee is another.
