I was just recently asked the question, " What makes Adoration with the Blessed Sacrament so much different than prayer to Jesus on your own (such as at home in your bedroom), aside from being truly in the presence of Jesus?"

I was unable to provide a good answer except that Adoration is a special time to spend with Jesus one-on-one and to deepen that friendship while being in his presence.

Can someone please provide feedback on how they might have gone about answering this question or point me in the right direction so I can find some more guidance?

Thanks

When you are praying individually, yes, you are worshiping Our Lord, but when you’re in adoration, you are adoring and worshiping his very flesh and blood. His soul, and divinity.

I know that’s a bit short, but I hope I have helped.

To me the “actual presence” makes ALL the difference. I spend an hour a day in adoration and I’m struggling with some sinful desires…when I go they are just “gone”…a non-issue. I am so honored to be able to be in the presence of my Savior and I can’t explain it…it really does FEEL different. I pray the rosary, meditate, maybe glance at a meditation book in the chapel and just enjoy the peaceful presence of God.

There really is nothing like it. I pray at home and I know God hears me but that actual presence really speaks to my soul and I would miss it if I couldn’t attend adoration every day.

“Aside from being truly in the presence of Jesus”

What? Thats like saying whats different between talking to your wife while in bed and talking to her on the phone. What difference does it really make? You are still talking to your wife!!

I wish there was an emoticon that would make frustrated grunts…

I find that to be a very good answer though. Its short and direct. Thank You very much for that.

I am not sure if your bothered by the statement that was made by the other girl, but I personally think the other girl is as trying to figure out why there is a difference. Your praying to the same person. So I think that “LoyalViews” made a good point. In that your right there adoring our Lord.

Thank you all for the response. Its helped me answer the question better so far!
