Catholic Aliens

How could we tell if they are aliens or fallen angels in physical form having been cast down from heaven knowing they have but a short time for the ruin of souls?

Their appearance would not matter. G_D created us “in His image”, which generally is considered to mean that we have the divine nature of G_D ***reflected ***in us, in our souls, regardless of our appearance. The same would apply to alien life forms, in that they would also be created in the image of G_D. As such, they would also take part in the sacrificial action of the Cross.

I agree with this.

My reply was to the question - how would they have been evangelized since none of the Apostles or their successors ever left the earth.
If the aliens are able to come now - - then perhaps they could have come in the past.
If they looked like us - then they could have mingled with us and been evangelized without anyone here even knowing that they were from another planet…

Just surmising along with the OP author.

You might be interested in a book from many years ago that is still topical: Dialogs with the Devil, by Taylor Caldwell. It is a set of letters between Satan and Michael, debating and discussing humanity, both on Earth and other worlds, so it covers some of your questions.

My answer to your post is that they would have been evangelized as the Israelites were: through the inspired writings of their prophets.

And returning to Taylor Caldwell, if you can find a copy of her novel “The Listener”, by all means read it! It’s a short read, and very profound.

From a Catholic perspective, humans would be considered superior to other species due to powers of the soul. Humans have a rational soul, that includes all the powers of the vegetative and the animal soul. The question of whether humans are superior, inferior or equal to aliens would be dependent upon whether they have greater or lesser powers of the soul. Do aliens have a greater potential than humans?
 
God is infinite. So it is not unreasonable to think that God creates infinitely - that He creates every permutation of every being that could ever exist. That explains a great many things: Why are there mentally handicapped people? Why are there physically disabled people? Why are there transgendered people? Why are there homosexual people;? Why are there people?

What God expects and demands from us is to love our neighbor as ourselves - to give every person the respect that Jesus would give us (check out the gospel according to Luke). God creates an infinite variety of persons, and He expects us to love them all as He loves them all.

I would rather stand before God and confess “Yes, I loved them all, I respected them all, I treated them all fairly” than to stand before God and say “I hated and despised this and that kind of person because I supposed that you wanted me to hate and despise them”.

But that’s just me. Maybe you have a different POV.

My Response is why they could not be Human? Just because they are Aliens does not mean they could not be Human.
