Catholic and Ganesha

I am catholic but I had lost my faith some time ago. I have a daughter with special needs and I became interested in Ganesha being the “remover of obstacles” as I was and still am having trouble with. I have a Ganesha figure in my home but returned to my faith as a Catholic. I do not worship Ganesha but I feel it may be a sin to have it in my home. Can I donate it?

If you feel it is an occasion of sin for you to have it in your home, and want to get rid of it then I see no reason why you can’t just donate it to a Goodwill or other place that would take it, rummage sale etc.

A lot of people would buy a Ganesha figure just as a house decoration without planning to use it in any sort of religious way.

Thank you! I have been very ashamed to let my faith go for so long. I did go to confession recently so I am feeling much better now. I had even forgotten I had the Ganesha figure until I had seen it a short while ago ( kinda hidden) then thinking even though I don’t worship it I thought of the 10 commandments and to others it is considered a god. So I thank you for your response.
