I am withdrawing this post, as I feel that I am not getting help with the issue I was seeking answers on.

when it comes to my two children from a previous marriage she gets really upset

She really doesn’t have a dog in this hunt. She can express her opinion, but she shouldn’t get to make a decision, one way or the other.

I am lazy and havent been going to church or pursued getting confirmed.

If you want your wife to follow you into the Church you need to lead by example. The best witness to the beauty of the Catholic Church is someone practicing it faithfully.

You mentioned that your current wife is a widow but your kids from a previous marriage live across the country, so I’m assuming your ex-wife is still alive. If so, I would talk to a priest to clarify your marriage situation isn’t irregular and an impediment to entering fully into the church.

Why does it matter so much to you what religion your children are baptized in when you don’t practice the faith yourself?

It sounds like there’s something drawing you to the Catholic Church, but currently it’s not enough to get you to Mass, regularize your marriage, or complete your sacraments of initiation. Maybe the first step is to focus on your spiritual life. Once that’s more developed, your wife will see how important it is to you. Right now it’s just words.
