Hello,
I have been talking to 2 young Mormon missionaries. Their belief is that Jesus
baptized the Indians in North America after his death on the cross. And that he sent
an Angel to Joseph Smith to tell Smith to start LDS as the one true church. They
use the KJV bible and the book of Mormon to justify this. They also have a
historical time line to back this up. Tell me, what references other than the Catholic
Bible and the Catechism I can use to teach them that the Catholic Church is the
one and only true Church started by Jesus Christ. Is there a historical time line
available for the Catholic Church?
Thank.

The approach I usually take with LDS missionaries to ask them where the bible came from. I point out that the bible was complied by the Catholic church. This is basically the same bible they use, particularly the NT. The point I try to make is that if the ‘true’ church went apostate and was no longer valid, how did it manage to compile the same basic bible they use?

It not always a great way to start, but it can get the job done.

Catholic.com has a book set for answering Mormon questions here. It may not help you now, but it is handy to have around.
